This will be a pregame spot for sure!!! Food was average at best and missed the mark. She assured us that we could still order food upstairs, since that's what we were there for. Believe me or not, there is even a sweet third level which is a small quaint space to have meetings. Don't ask me how he kept it all straight but he sure was able to. Management did nothing about the mix up.
We live about 5 minutes from downtown Utica and haven't been to a lot of the places yet. Our server Tasha was a down to earth, attentive, knowledgeable and extremely sweet girl. This was are first time and last time at Danny Js. Don't think I will go back. In just the few months they have owned the building, they have really brightened it up while keeping the historical look and feel. I like coming to Danny J's in general but the event space and awesome customer service will keep me coming back! I haven't had many steak sandwiches that I've really enjoyed and this was one! As I drove down Auburn Road, I saw new businesses renovating old spaces, and then I saw a beautiful historical brick building freshly painted. No clue about the food, the drinks, or the prices.
The restaurant has a classy bar feel. It was really a great experience eating there. I have been to Danny J's several times and it is great! The bang bang shrimp was good and so was the sandwich we ordered. They are even looking at a rooftop patio bar and grill. If you don't have mobility issues or don't care about entertainment, you'll probably have a fine time. Service was fantastic and quick.
We walked into this place at 11pm on a Saturday, and there was only 3 people at the bar on the main floor. Thank you Danny Js for always providing a wonderful dining experience. Whenever my daughter comes in from California, we always make sure to dine here. I love their Sunday brunch bar! I asked Eva what her background was that she wanted to open this beautiful casual dining restaurant. Good choice if you're hungry, looking for a casual spot where you can have a conversation. I hope this was just a hiccup because of the festival. Utica has a not so great parking so it is rarely busy and have come here a bunch of times for dinner on a busy Friday or Saturday night when I didn't want to wait 45-60 minutes at other places.
I had the pizza, which you can already tell by this story was not going to be baked in a standard oven. The food was awesome and Gregg always made sure there was enough on the buffet table that was set up perfectly. I will never go again and I have been telling everyone I know the horrible experience. We thought the party must be upstairs, so we headed up there. We were one of 3 tables in the bar when we placed our order. Would say it wasn't could but it wasn't warm.
My mimosa was a little flat. Grabbed an early dinner here a few weeks ago and I'm glad that we did! We ordered the spinach dip for an appetizer which was phenomenal. When it came time to pay our bill it was no shock that we had to chase someone down to give them our credit card so we could finally just get out of there. Artichoke dip came out luke warm. I frequent happy hours, and I would never come to this happy hour or this bar again. Danny J's brick Tavern is a two-story restaurant, with two full bars, a wood-fired pizza oven, and a fully equipped 2nd floor performance stage! We were able to find street parking right out front and were seated right away which was nice.
The space is really great with several areas to sit and chat and the bar is accessible from all of them. They also had several flavored mimosas, I tried the strawberry one with fresh strawberry juice. I haven't danced that much in months or even years. Our food came out so quickly, and they even had a bread basket on the table. I personally was not a fan beef tips though. Our table was literally right next to the bar. Could not get over how affordable this place was!!! We stopped in before a game at the ballpark and were pleasantly surprised.
We went back downstairs and the hostess refunded our cover, no problem. We went up there and a whole section had been reserved for a private party. Service was awesome and the whole experience was memorable. Thank you for your quick responses to any of my questions. The deluxe was awesome, but very soggy in the middle. Those that ordered off the menu, their orders took forever.
The burger was good and the corn was hot but nothing to bring me back. Pass this one by folks, a complete rip off. I had the sliders and they were cooked to perfection. If you are looking for a main course, then you can dig into the chicken parmesan, fish and chips or flank steak to name just a few. The Sunday brunch buffet is really good. On Friday nights they have a dueling piano show upstairs.
At her suggestion we had personal pizzas. I ran my finger over it and looked like it was butter or grease. . There is a regular bar upstairs with a bartender but he also takes food orders and delivers drink orders and food orders to the tables. Everyone in that party had left their seats to go see the band, but that meant that there was no open seating for us and hardly anywhere to stand even. I didn't get one so I can't comment on that but there was a lot of things to Choose from.
